GIA Diamond Cut Scale

We’d like to share our passion and expertise for diamonds with you, which is why we’ve created the Blesq diamonds blog – read on for gripping tales and exciting news about the most precious gemstone on Earth.

Not only is the diamond judged according to its quality, but also its cut. The amount of light that he is able to reflect, thus developing his particularly radiant shine, is a deciding factor. The Gemological Institute of America has set a scale to objectify and standardize the cut evaluation.

This scale starts at Poor (a diamond which reflects little light), then Fair, Good to Very Good, and then Excellent. Increasing quality and light reflection come about through perfect, varied surfaces and edges of the diamond. In total, seven criteria are used to classify a diamond in the GIA Cut Grade: brightness, fire, scintillation (sparkle), weight ratio, durability, polish, and symmetry.

At Blesq Diamonds, you’ll find GIA’s Excellent Certified Diamonds, which fulfill all of these demands, and provide a lifelong sparkle.
