The Millennium Star

We’d like to share our passion and expertise for diamonds with you, which is why we’ve created the Blesq diamonds blog – read on for gripping tales and exciting news about the most precious gemstone on Earth.

This sensational find is owned by De Beers, who immediately acquired it after it was found in Mbuji-Mayi in Zaire Rep. Congo in 1990. To everyone’s astonishment, it weighed exactly 777 carats as a rough diamond. And today, after extensive planning and processing, it still weighs 203.04 carats.

It took more than 3 years of planning and testing with over 100 plastic models, before it was finally laser-cut into its current pear cut shape with 54 facets. It was first available to the public in 1999 in the “De Beers Millennium Diamond Collection”.

In 2000, Scotland Yard prevented its theft during the De Beers Millennium Jewels Exhibition in London. It is flawless, and the second largest D grade diamond, the finest white on the diamond color scale.

The most beautiful cut diamonds can be found under BLESQ Masterpieces.
