The Pear Cut, also known as a the Pendeloque or Teardrop Cut, is a drop-shaped diamond combining perfect brilliance and design with 56 – 58 facets. It was developed in the 15th century by Lodewyk van Bercken, a Belgian jeweller and diamond cutter who contributed significantly to the refining of diamonds with the invention of the diamond cutting wheel.
In addition to the Emerald Cut, the Pear Cut is suitable for visually extending the fingers.
