The Pear Cut, also known as a the Pendeloque or Teardrop Cut, is a drop-shaped diamond combining perfect brilliance and design with 56 – 58 facets. It was developed in the 15th century by Lodewyk van Bercken, a Belgian jeweller and diamond cutter who contributed significantly to the refining of diamonds with the invention of the diamond cutting wheel.
